Input Devices
The devices which are used to input necessary data and
Information to a computer is called as input devices. Some
of them are, Key board
Mouse
Microphone
Scanner
Barcode Reader
Joystick
Web Camera
Light Pen
Pen Drive etc…
Output
The devices used to get processed data and information
out are output devices. We can get an out put through two
ways. They are soft and hard.We can get softout put from
monitor,projector,speaker and pen drive etc…. We can get
hard outputs from machines like printers.
Processing
Processing units can also named as Central
Processing Unit. It can be devided into three parts.
· Control Unit
· Arithmetic and Logic Unit
· Memory Registers
Control Unit
All the controlling of the computer is done by thisunit. This controls all the devices of the computer giving therequired commands when necessary.
Arithmetic Unit
This performs all kind of arithmetical calculation
and logical operations.
Memory Registers
The memory registers are included in the processing processing unit and it stores the data which are ready to the Central Processing Unit for calculation or processing.
Speed of a Computer
Speed is also called as clock speed.The unit is hertz (Hz) . Mega hertz(MHz), Gega hertz(GHz) are used to measure speed of modern computers.
1000HZ = 1kHZ
1000KHz = 1Mhz
1000MHz = 1GHz
The maximum Bits used for calculations or storing at a time is considered to measure the capacity of the Central Processing Unit. This is also called Word Size of the computer.
Storage Devices
Storage Devices which are used to store data and
information are also called Backing Storageand
ExtraMemory. Some of those devices are,
· Hard Disks

In computer hardware, a port serves as an interface between the computer and other computers or peripheral devices. Physically, a port is a specialized outlet on a piece of equipment to which a plug or cable connects. Electronically, the several conductors making up the outlet provide a signal transfer between devices.
Ps2 port
Often referred to as the mouse or keyboard port, the PS/2 port was developed by IBM and is used to connect a computer mouse or keyboard to an IBM compatible computer. The PS/2 port is a mini DIN plug that contains six pins and is still found on all IBM compatible computers today, however, is starting to be replaced by USB.
In computing, a serial port is a serial communication physical interface through which information transfers in or out one bit at a time.
Parallel port
A parallel port is a type of interface found on computers (personal and otherwise) for connecting various peripherals. In computing, a parallel port is a parallel communication physical interface. It is also known as a printer port or Centronics port.
Network port
In computer networking, a port is an application-specific or process-specific software construct serving as a communications endpoint.
Monitor port
The monitor port is used to connect the computer screen which is the main devise to give the output of computer processed information. This contains fifteen holes which are arranged in thee lines.
USB port
The Universal Serial Port. A connection for devices such as printers, scanners, and most digital cameras via a cable. Most computers have at least 2 ports, but some can have as many as 8. They can be found in the front or back of your computer
Sound port
Modem port
Externally, personal computers have ports for connecting modems, printers, mice, and other peripheral devices.
